Recently, KitchenGardenSF started with the mission to help people install, learn about, and cultivate kitchen gardens in their back yards all over San Francisco. On October 10, 2010, which is 10/10/10, there will be a global day of actions inspired by www.350.org. If you're interested in participating in KitchenGardenSF's garden challenge -- to install 350 kitchen gardens in San Francisco on 10/10/10 -- either as a volunteer or to register a garden action, please go to kitchengardensf.org. It is not a large committment, but a very important one to gain momentum toward a food system that is equitable, sustainable and providing nutrition rather than just calories. If you'd like to organize your neighbors to plant their own kitchen gardens on 10/10/10 (which can be as simple as planting lettuce seedlings in a pot on a deck), please contact Lynda Smith at lynda@kitchengardensf.org. |
